"Nanyang" in "Jiaxing Nanyang Polytechnic Institute" derived from "Nanyang Public School," the original name used by Shanghai Jiao
Tong University in 1896 when it was founded. In the very beginning, the Institute put forward the policy of "never forgetting those who
fought to make the present possible, inheritting the tradition of Shanghai Jiao Tong University; loving our country and school, and carrying
forward the Jiahe humanistic spirit," which means to inherit and carry forward the good tradition of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and
make a difference. Since the foundation, nearly 100 Shanghai Jiao Tong University teachers and Shanghai experts have come to give
lessons, participate in the school construction, and make contributions to the development of the institute's education cause.
