About JNPI
Jiaxing Nanyang Polytechnic Institute (JNPI) is located in the historic city of Jiaxing, the hinterland of the Hangjia Lake in the northeast of Zhejiang Province. It is a full-time vocational and technical institute of higher learning, approved by People's Government of Zhejiang Province and jointly founded by SJTU Education Group and Jiaxing Educational Development and Investment Company. The Institute is comprised of 6 academic units, namely School of Ship and Architecture Engineering, School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, School of Financial Management, School of Business and Trade, School of International Education, School of Further Education and Basic Teaching Department. There are 6 specialty groups, including Architecture Engineering, Ship Engineering, Mechanical and Electrical Manufacturing, Economic Management, Information Technology and Financial Management, and 2 provincial specialties including Electrical Automation Technology and Mould Designing and Manufacturing. Nanyang Institute is dedicated to deepening university-enterprise cooperation, promoting teaching reform, innovating in personnel training mode, and improving the quality of education. It has built the higher vocational curriculum mode of "treating tasks as the center and project courses as the main body." Up to now, it has 2 provincial excellent courses,16 school excellent courses, and 18 municipal excellent school-based teaching textbooks. In the past three years, the institute has obtained 70 provincial research projects and 18 municipal research projects and patents. Nanyang Institute attaches great importance to the cultivation of the students' vocational skills and practical abilities and pays attention to the construction of talent training bases as well. It has already signed university-enterprise cooperation agreements with nearly 200 companies. Currently there are 32 experiment and training centers (rooms) and 1 provincial demonstration training base. Its “2+1” segmental teaching program ensures students to master the skills required by the post during internship and receive certain labor remuneration. Drawing upon the strong faculty and school-running experience of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Nanyang Institute has built "two education systems" of cultural education and professional education in accordance with the talent cultivation mode of "excellent quality, exquisite technology,” which has produced remarkable results. In the past two years, students in the institute received more than 200 awards in national and provincial vocational skills contest. Students received awards in national competitions for 63 times and provincial competitions for 150 times, and 3students have been accepted for Zhejiang Province talent plan. Meanwhile, the acceptance rate of top-up (upgrade from junior college student to university student) remains above 67%, and the employment rate of graduates of all previous years remains above 94%. Nanyang Institute devotes much attention to the strengthening of students' humanities accomplishment, establishes the education concept of "people-oriented, strict management, strengthening quality, emphasizing ability," and values the integrative development of quality-oriented education and skill education. It thinks highly of cooperative education and international academic exchanges in order to learn and absorb advanced vocational education idea and experience, having successively established friendly relationship and long-term cooperation relationship with such international universities as State University of New York (USA), Robert Morris University (USA), International Technological University (USA), Cambrian College (Canada), Korea Maritime University, Eastern Institute of Technology (New Zealand), and so on.

Courses Available
1. Chinese Language and Culture Program
This program is designed for international students who want to study short-term or long-term Chinese language and Culture Program. Three levels of the courses are offered: Essential Level, Intermediate Level and Advanced Level. Students are to be placed in levels that suit them best by taking a proficiency test.
Application Duration
Autumn semester: September to January/February
Spring semester: February/March to June

Integrated Reading, Intensive Reading, Extensive Reading, Listening and Speaking, Newspaper Reading, News Listening, Outline of China and so no.
Elective Courses
Chinese Culture, Business Chinese, Tourism Chinese, HSK Training, Taiji, Gong-fu, Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Painting, Chinese Papercuts, Chinese Songs and so on. ( Only available on downtown campus)

2. Academic Study Program
The study period for Academic Study Programs is three years, and the classes begin in September. Interested applicants can contact the School of International Education of Jiaxing Nanyang Polytechnic Institute and get the Application Form for international students as well as other relevant procedures. The application deadline for college student entrance is June 30th and should have pass HSK level 4.
